Sotheby’s London afternoon sale of Mario Testino’s Collection realised an overall sales total of £6.2 million, with work by Richard Prince as the highest priced photography lot. The print, titled Untitled (Girlfriend) was estimated to sell for £250,000-£350,000 and sold for £554,750. Other photographic sales were Untitled 145 by Cindy Sherman which sold for £272,750…

The Most Expensive Photographs Sold At Auction reach over $4 million with prints from Andreas Gursky, Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman, Edward Steichen, Gilbert & George and Jeff Wall.
The auction runs from 5th-14th September with lots from some of the most influential practitioners of the early 20th century, including Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Cecil Beaton.
There are 47 photographic lots available including the first selfie in space (taken by Buzz Aldrin) during the Gemini 4 mission.

Sotheby’s announce a Photography sale in a few weeks time, concerning portraits of Vivien Leigh taken by Cecil Beaton. The exhibition runs from the 12th of September to the 26th, to coincide with the anniversary auction of Leigh’s belongings due to take place on the 26th. The exhibition will take place at Sotheby’s London.
